I have the good fortune of mostly Ireland born ancestors.
I have the misfortune of now understanding that most trails will grow cold at the beginning of the 19th century. Thank you also for dispelling some of the Comerford myths I was guilty of repeating.

See you on your Comerford blog.

BillAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6561249004966522983.post-18831180462139888892024-03-18T08:34:16.776+00:002024-03-18T08:34:16.776+00:00Bill, thank you for such extensive comments, and a...Bill, thank you for such extensive comments, and also for your kind remarks.

However, it is now two years since I lived in West Limerick, and I have very little access to local sources there.

Perhaps another reader in the area may be able to help.

Patrick
Patrick Comerfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00558394038241172440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6561249004966522983.post-53155483209146576182024-03-18T02:00:45.424+00:002024-03-18T02:00:45.424+00:00Patrick, fancy meeting you here. As a Comerford (...Patrick, fancy meeting you here. As a Comerford (Maudlin St, Kilkenny, RC St John’s) I follow you for Comerford information, but while researching my maternal grandfather side “Manning” from Ballyane, Limerick I came across your 4-year-old post regarding Shanid Castle and mention of Waterpark House. Maybe you can provide some research advice on finding information on my maternal great grandmother, Hanorah (Anne) Dillane prior to her marriage.

My maternal grandfather William Manning was born in the area in 1905 and his family was living in Ballyane in the 1901 and 1911 census, but the reason I was looking for information regarding Waterpark House was his mother. On my great grandparents Patrick Manning and Anne Dillane civil marriage register solemnized at RC Shanagolden, 30 Nov 1899 it reflects Anne’s occupation as servant and her current residence as “Waterpark Shanagolden”, father’s name Edward labourer, and a witness named Mary Dillane. These are the only clues I have for her prior to her marriage. This leaves me at a loss to find her home townland and her mother’s name. I have a few trails I have tried to follow in Limerick and neighboring Kerry, but no clear connection and there seems to have been a lot of Dillane’s especially near Listowel.

Would Waterpark House have kept records of any kind on their servants (where they are from)? Any advice would be appreciated.

Bill Comerford, USA
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6561249004966522983.post-84082210956777794722023-11-28T21:24:51.255+00:002023-11-28T21:24:51.255+00:00Eamon O kane and Assumpta McGill climbed up to Sha...Eamon O kane and Assumpta McGill climbed up to Shanid Castle on Monday morning fantastic view of the Shannon and Foynes Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
