May I add my appreciation for this fasc...Patrick -

May I add my appreciation for this fascinating lecture?

There is a splendid World War I memorial in St. Mary's, Haddington Road. It would be interesting to know whether this is a unique instance of a parish WW I memorial in a Roman Catholic Church in Ireland. I do not know of any others.

Visitors to England who are interested in Irish WW 1 connections may have the opportunity to see the badges of all the Irish regiments on plaques in Westminster Cathedral (St Patrick's Chapel, in the south aisle); also the memorial to the Tyneside Irish in
St Mary's Cathedral, Newcastle (an exuberant Pugin
masterpiece, an Enniscorthy on a bigger scale).

Peter LanganPeter Langannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6561249004966522983.post-35663075764001573062014-08-05T22:01:59.509+01:002014-08-05T22:01:59.509+01:00Thank you Jane,

You 'flow' - you love your topic. I am the lady who said 'I do gravestones' - that is I transcribe them and put the information on the net.

A friend of mine from Durrow emailed me from the US telling me that your lecture was on today and I am very glad I attended.

Jane LyonsJane Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09702321749111141174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6561249004966522983.post-32261840644852674842014-08-05T20:34:47.867+01:002014-08-05T20:34:47.867+01:00Thank you :-)
