Surely as a High Church the Epistle and Gospel would be read or sung by the priest (or if a High Mass Subdeacon and Deacon). At St John's Mattins was said by one person in Choir dress at about 10 a.m. and no-one in the congregation, as far as I remember. I don't understand how he would have read the Lessons. Can you please explain ?
