On page 10 of "Personal Recollections of Daniel O'Connell", W.J.O. Daunt describes O'Connell saying how three people (in the sort of electoral college) voted for him during the Belgians' search for a king to rule their newly formed mainly Roman Catholic country in the 1830s.
