Praying at Christmas with USPG,
(11): 4 January 2017

Sunday worship in All Saints’ Church, Jakarta … this week, the USPG Prayer Diary focuses on the needs and work of the Anglican Church of Indonesia

I am in Rome today [4 January 2017] for a few days on a city break, visiting some important sites in Church history, and finding time too for prayer and for reflection.

We are still in the Christmas season, and each morning throughout the Twelve Days of Christmas I am using the prayer diary of the Anglican mission agency, USPG (United Society Partners in the Gospel), for my morning prayers and reflections.

This week, the prayers in the USPG Prayer Diary focus on the needs and work of the Anglican Church of Indonesia.

The USPG Prayer Diary:

Wednesday 4 January 2017:

Pray for the Anglican Church of Indonesia as it establishes schools to accompany its church-planting programme. Pray for education for all children in the country and pray for the church’s youth ministry.

Readings (Revised Common Lectionary, the Church of Ireland, Holy Communion):

I John 3: 7-10; Psalm 98: 1, 8-10; John 1: 35-42.

The Collect of the Day:

Almighty God,
who wonderfully created us in your own image
and yet more wonderfully restored us
through your Son Jesus Christ:
Grant that, as he came to share in our humanity,
so we may share the life of his divinity;
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
