Let us pray:

Heavenly Father,
on Saint Patrick’s Day,
we pray for Ireland,
for our governments, North and South …
for the Taoiseach and Tanaiste …
for the First Minister and Deputy First Minister …
for our people, North and South …
for all who live here …
for all who work to make these better societies …
for all emigrants who have left but still see Ireland as home …

We give thanks for diversity and pluralism in our land …
and we for your blessings on our land, our people and our future.

Lord have mercy,
Lord have mercy.

Lord Jesus Christ,
we pray for your Church throughout this land,
in all its diversity and its many different expressions …
that we may be true to the Gospel preached by Saint Patrick …
and worthy successors to his mission …

We pray for all churches and congregations named after Saint Patrick …
including the priests and people of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin,
Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Killala,
Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim,
the Cathedral of Saint John and Saint Patrick, Cashel,
and, in this diocese, Saint Patrick’s Church, Kenmare.

Christ have mercy,
Christ have mercy.

Holy Spirit,
on this day, pour out your blessings
on all who share Patrick’s name,
especially those in our families, those in this group of parishes
and those we remember who remain blessings to us.

Lord have mercy,
Lord have mercy.

Merciful Father …
