The details have been announced for this year’s annual conference of Us (the United Society), the Anglican mission formerly known as USPG (the United Society for the Propagation of the Gospel).

This year’s conference, ‘The Transforming Gospel,’ takes place from Monday 20 July to Wednesday 22 July in the High Leigh Conference Centre near Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire.

The Us annual conference is a chance to discover how the world Church is putting its faith into action. The programme includes talks and workshops, but the conference also offers ideas to take back to parishes, and a chance to meet some world church partners.

The speakers this year include:

● Canon Delene Mark, CEO of Hope Africa, the social development department arm of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, will speak on how the Church can ensure the Gospel is good news for women;

● The Revd Dr Miranda Threlfall-Holmes, Vicar of Belmont and Pittington, Durham, and author of The Essential History of Christianity;

● Dr Paulo Ueti, a theologian and New Testament scholar from Brazil;

● Ms Sheba Sultan, an educational trainer, fiction writer and member of the Church of Pakistan – she will be asking how the Gospel can be good news for women in Pakistan;

● Ms Anjum Anwar MBE, Exchange and Dialogue Development Officer, Blackburn Cathedral – she is the first Muslim to have been appointed to the staff of a Church of England cathedral;

● The Revd Dr Monodeep Daniel, of the Delhi Brotherhood Society, who will offer a commentary on the Rape of Tamar (II Samuel 13), with specific references to the role of men within Church and society.

Supporters and friends of Us may attend the full conference, or just the day conference Tuesday 21 July.

Bookings can be made on the conference page on the Us website.
