From the ‘Church of Ireland Notes’

The ‘Church of Ireland Notes’ on page 22 in ‘The Irish Times’ yesterday [12 September 2015], begin with the following paragraphs:

Next Friday an introductory weekend begins for new ordinands in the Church of Ireland Theological Institute in Braemor Park, Dublin. It includes a series of introductory sessions from director Canon Maurice Elliott and his staff, Canon Patrick Comerford, Dr Katie Heffelfinger and the Revd Dr Paddy McGlinchey, as well as what may prove to be an invaluable introduction to community living from Canon Comerford and the senior student Stuart Moles, who will also preach at the concluding Eucharist.

Supplementary inputs will come from the Archbishop of Dublin, his theological advisor the Revd Dr William Olhausen, and the Revd Bruce Pierce, Director of Education at the St Luke’s Home Education Centre, Cork.

The students will meet staff at Trinity College, where some of their teaching will take place, and visit both the TCD Library and the RCB Library. There will also be a programme for spouses and families.

The nine new ordinands at the Theological Institute this year will be joined later in the month by 11 second-year students and 12 final-year students who have been ordained as deacon interns. The Foundation Course, which is a pre–requisite for ministerial training, currently has 18 students.
