This is my week serving as canon-in-residence in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin.
On Sunday, this included preaching at the Festal Eucharist for Trinity Sunday, and reading the second lesson at Choral Evensong. On Sunday, I also attended the annual lunch of the Friends of Christ Church Cathedral.
On Monday, I was present in Saint Michan’s Church, Dublin, for the ordination to the priesthood of the Revd David McDonnell, who is the curate in the Christ Church Cathedral Group of Parishes, and each evening I am in the cathedral at Evening Prayer at 5 p.m.
Later this week, the Cathedral is hosting the Pipeworks Organ Marathon between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, followed by Choral Evensong at 5 p.m.
After lunch last Sunday, the Friends of Christ Church Cathedral held their annual general meeting in the Chapter House. The Friends support the work and worship of the cathedral, support the cathedral financially, have donated many gifts to the cathedral, including choir robes and a recording system, and at the end of last month visited biblical sites in western Turkey for eight days.
The two photographs with this posting are published in the current edition (Spring/Summer) of the Friends’ News.
