Askeaton scaffolding:

For the past few weeks, scaffolding has covered the west front of Saint Mary’s Church, Askeaton, in the first stage in securing the church façade. Simon White and Ralph Drew have been busy working on the project, the news at this stage is looking good as the scaffolding begins to come down.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Ebie (White) and Emanuel (Manu) Delbarry on the birth of their daughter Ella, and to the grandparents, Hilary and Simon White of Nantenan.

Sympathy:

Sympathy to Arthur Gilliard of Rathkeale and his sister Olive Enright of Askeaton, on the recent death of their first cousin Frank Shier late of Rathkeale and Limerick. Frank was the son of the late Bert and Moll Shier and brother of the late Betty. He is survived by his wife Dolly and his sons Phillip, Michael and John, and extended family.

The Mothers’ Union:

The next meeting of Kilcornan Mothers’ Union takes place in the Rectory, Askeaton, on Monday 4 March at 8 p.m.

Ministry training in the Rectory:

The Revd Anne-Marie Stuart, FJ, of the Kilcolman Union of Parishes is leading two workshops on ‘The Adventure of Prayer’ and ‘Faith Development’ in the Rectory in Askeaton, Co Limerick, from 11 am to 3.30 pm. On 11 February, the workshops looked at the Jesus Prayer and Praying with Icons.

Sunday 17 March (The Second Sunday in Lent, Saint Patrick’s Day): 9.30 a.m., Saint Mary’s Church, Askeaton, Holy Communion; 11.30, Saint Brendan’s Church, Kilnaughtin, Holy Communion.

Sunday 24 March (The Third Sunday in Lent): 9.30 a.m., Castletown Church, Kilcornan, Morning Prayer; 11.30, Holy Trinity Church, Rathkeale, Holy Communion.

Monday 25 March (The Annunciation): 11 a.m., Holy Communion, Saint Mary’s Church, Askeaton, with tea/coffee in the Rectory.

Sunday 31 March (The Fourth Sunday in Lent, Mothering Sunday): 11 a.m., United Group Service for the Fifth Sunday: 11 a.m., Holy Trinity Church, Rathkeale, Holy Communion.

Lent 2019:

Lent and Easter are relatively late this year. Four Lenten study evenings are taking place in the Rectory at 8 p.m. on Thursdays in Lent. These evenings are open to all parishioners and friends:

Thursday 14 March: no programme.

Thursday 21 March: The Apostles’ Creed

Thursday 28 March: The Nicene Creed

Thursday 4 April: The Athanasian Creed

Thursday 11 April: The 39 Articles

Tea/coffee are provided at each of these study evenings, which last for about an hour.
